Configuration
Protection mode, hotkeys, display, audio, storage, and other settings.
Protection Mode
Protection Mode hides the CheatCodeAI window from standard screen sharing and recording (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams) and keeps it out of the taskbar and window switcher. You choose whether to enable it at first login; toggle it any time with the switch in the app footer.
This covers standard OS screen-capture interfaces only; see Privacy and Security for the limits.
Hotkeys
Hotkeys are global — they work even while your interview window has focus. Use Cmd on macOS and Ctrl on Windows and Linux.
| Action | Hotkey |
|---|---|
| Capture screenshot | Cmd/Ctrl + S |
| Hide / show window | Cmd/Ctrl + H |
| Start / stop audio recording | Cmd/Ctrl + D |
| Move window (100 px per press) | Cmd/Ctrl + Arrow keys |
In Settings > Hotkeys you can turn hotkeys on or off, individually or all at once. The key combinations themselves cannot be changed. Because they are global, they override the same shortcut in other apps (for example Cmd/Ctrl + S for Save) while CheatCodeAI is running with hotkeys enabled.
Appearance
- Theme: Light, Dark, or System.
- Transparency: Make the window up to 50% transparent so it blends into your desktop.
- Font size: Adjust text size for Spectator and Souffler separately.
- Language: 11 interface languages, including English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Hindi, and Korean. This also sets the language AI answers are written in. Live transcription stays English regardless.
- Glossary tooltips: Optional inline explanations of technical terms in audio-assistant answers.
Screen and Audio Devices
Settings > Screen: choose which display screenshots are captured from. Defaults to your primary display; change this if the interview is on another monitor.
Settings > Audio: choose the microphone the audio assistant listens to, and optionally enable echo cancellation, noise suppression, or automatic gain control. Use Refresh Devices after plugging in a new microphone.
Storage
Screenshots and audio recordings are saved on your device, in a per-session folder under Documents/CheatCodeAI by default. In Settings > Storage you can:
- Change the storage folder.
- Open the storage folder in Finder / File Explorer.
- Clear Storage: permanently delete all saved screenshots and recordings.
Remote Mirror
Remote Mirror lets you view and control CheatCodeAI from a phone or tablet on the same Wi-Fi network. Enable it in Settings > Remote Mirror, then scan the QR code or open the shown URL on your second device.
- It is off by default and turns itself off every time the app restarts.
- It streams the app window and your primary desktop directly between your own devices over your local network, so nothing is sent to CheatCodeAI servers.
- Only enable it on networks and devices you trust.
Account
Settings > Account shows your email, current plan, and session expiry. Use Manage subscription to open the pricing page, or Log out to sign out on this device.
