Installation

• macOS: macOS 12 (Monterey) or later, Apple Silicon (M1 or newer). Intel Macs are not supported.
• Windows: Windows 10 or later, 64-bit.
• Linux (beta): a 64-bit x86 distribution such as Ubuntu 22.04+, Fedora, or Arch. X11 sessions are fully supported; Wayland sessions work with limits described below.
• An active internet connection. The app does not work offline.
• CheatCodeAI is available to users located in the United States.

Get the installer from the downloads page. macOS offers a .dmg installer (recommended) or a portable .zip. Windows uses a -setup.exe installer. Linux offers a portable .AppImage (recommended, auto-updates) or a .deb package.

1. Open the downloaded .dmg file.
2. Drag CheatCodeAI into your Applications folder.
3. Launch CheatCodeAI from Applications.
4. If macOS blocks the first launch, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

1. Run the downloaded -setup.exe file. Installation is automatic, with no setup wizard.
2. If Windows SmartScreen shows a warning, click More info, then Run anyway.
3. The app opens when installation finishes. Later, launch it from the Start Menu.

AppImage: keep the file in a folder whose path has no spaces, mark it executable (chmod +x), and run it. On first launch it registers itself so sign-in links from your browser open the app.

Debian / Ubuntu: install with sudo apt install ./cheatcodeai_*.deb, then launch CheatCodeAI from your app menu.

Linux does not support hiding the window from screen sharing, so Protection Mode is unavailable and the footer shows UNPROTECTED. On Wayland sessions, always-on-top, the window-move hotkeys, and global shortcuts may not work; use an X11 session for the full experience.

CheatCodeAI signs you in with an email link instead of a password.

1. Open the app and enter your email address.
2. Check the consent box confirming you are a US resident, at least 18, and agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
3. Click the sign-in link in the email on the same computer. It opens the app and logs you in. The link is valid for 24 hours.

Didn't get the email? Check spam, then resend (available after 60 seconds). AI features require an active subscription or trial. Manage yours at cheat-code.ai/pricing.

After your first sign-in, the app asks you to:

• Choose Protection Mode: enable it to hide the app from screen sharing. You can change this later with the toggle in the app footer. Not available on Linux.
• Grant microphone access: needed for the audio assistant. macOS prompts automatically; on Windows, enable it under Settings > Privacy > Microphone. Linux needs no system grant.
• Grant screen recording access: needed for screenshots. On macOS, enable CheatCodeAI under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording, then restart the app.

You can check and re-request permissions any time in Settings > Permissions.

The app checks for updates once at each launch and downloads them in the background. When an update is ready, a notification offers Restart now; otherwise it installs the next time you quit. Occasionally an update is required before you can sign in. On Linux, only the AppImage updates itself; a .deb install updates by installing the newer package.

macOS: Drag CheatCodeAI from Applications to the Trash.

Windows: Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find CheatCodeAI, and click Uninstall.

Linux: delete the .AppImage file, or run sudo apt remove cheatcodeai for a .deb install.

Screenshots and recordings stay in your storage folder (default: Documents/CheatCodeAI). Delete it manually if you want them gone too.
